Letter to the Editor: Property taxes

Dear Editor:

I just received my property tax statement. Looking it over, I was surprised by how many agencies were taxing me.

The largest tax item was for community college. As there is no college in Downey and I have no one using community college, why am I subsidizing this item? If your’re going to go to college, shouldn't you be paying for it yourself? Many do. I shouldn't be paying for your education.
