Letter to the Editor: Peace in Colombia should prevail

Dear Editor:

The no vote by Colombians lasts Sunday to me it does not make sense.

We are going backwards in civilization. We are going back to our earlier part of civilization where our ancestors were basically fighting for survival. The cave.

Like it did not make sense that for almost a half of century the USA and Cuba did not have diplomatic relationship, and there were people who wanted to keep that way ..forever!! But not anymore.

Colombians on the other hand, have been fighting with this organization FARC for more than half a century, and on Sunday they had the opportunity to change course toward peace, and people by very small margin said "no". What's going on?

Remember the song by Bob Dylan:

Yes, and how many times can a man turn his head
And pretend that he just doesn't see?
The answer, my friend, is blowin' in the wind
The answer is blowin' in the wind".
That is where the answer seems to be in Colombia, Siria and other parts of the world where fighting to death is the answer.

The sad situation is that this accord had the support of a lot of people including the United States; even the Pope Francis threw his support behind the accord.

It looked like approving the deal was a no-brainer.

Perhaps so many years of fight has left little time to think, and all the brain is gone.
We are going back to where our earlier ancestors lived: the cave. Fighting until death!
