Letter to the Editor: Litter problem

Dear Editor:

There is a serious trash issue in the city of Downey, specifically on Brookshire and Downey avenues between Imperial Highway and Stewart & Gray Road.

On my evening walks, I see countless pieces of trash littered on the street. The majority of the trash are food items.

I have taken it upon myself to start picking up trash during my walks. I filled up a standard trash bag after two walks this week.

I am going to continue to pick up trash on the streets during my walks and encourage other Downey residents to keep Downey beautiful, or else this will turn into a big problem. FYI: a majority of the trash is located near apartment complexes.
