Letter to the Editor: Library complaints

Dear Editor:

Nobody informed the Downey City Library staff that they have the capability of ordering books from another library when they are not available in Downey. This is a contradiction to Mr. Benjamin Dickow’s letter that such capability is available in the Downey City Library.

I invite Mr. Dickow to prove me wrong. If he does, that would make me very happy since it will save me trips to the Santa Fe Springs Library where that capability is available and I use it regularly.

The Downey Library does not subscribe to the Los Angeles Times, the Wall Street Journal, the Long Beach Press -Telegram, the Journal of Commerce or Barron’s either. Amazing!

Instead of patting himself on the back for the success of the library, I respectfully suggest to Mr. Dickow that his time would be better spent getting the library to do its job; i.e. allowing its customers to borrow books and read newspapers writ large.
