Letter to the Editor: Gas station gouging

Dear Editor:

I have noticed that the Shell stations in Downey (Firestone and Woodruff, and Paramount and Telegraph) are significantly more expensive than the other stations, specifically Chevron, 76, Mobil and certainly Arco.

The difference is at least 40-plus cents per gallon.

Why are our neighborhood stations ripping us off? The same gasoline in Norwalk, Pico Rivera and Bellflower is at a reduced price.

The Shell owners are gouging the Downey residents. Why should we shop local when we are being overcharged?
