Letter to the Editor: Dangerous intersection

Dear Editor:

Just this month, my daughter, who utilizes a manual wheelchair, was being assisted by her mother (myself) in crossing Firestone Boulevard to reach a business across the street on Lakewood Boulevard.

A thoughtless woman driving a large truck didn't think to look to her right when attempting to beat the merging opposing traffic. We saw the walk sign change, checked for any possible vehicle movement before slowly traversing down the curb cut to the boulevard.

Then it happened. The truck owner jumped on her gas pedal, jack rabbiting in front of us and narrowly missing my daughter by a narrow margin.

Yes, labeling Firestone and Lakewood as the most dangerous intersection is correct.
