LeRoy Rodenberg

LeRoy Rodenberg, loving patriarch of the Rodenberg Family, passed away at 1:16am on May 6, 2021 at The Meridian at Laguna Hills. LeRoy Rodenberg had just celebrated his 101st birthday. LeRoy Rodenberg was born in Pittsburg, Pennsylvania on May 2, 1920. He was the oldest of four children.
LeRoy Rodenberg was without a doubt part of “The Greatest Generation.” He joined the Canadian Air Force for three years prior to America entering WWII. Once America joined the war, he began flying cargo planes for the Army Air Force. After returning home to Pittsburg at the end of WWII, LeRoy Rodenberg enrolled in the University of Pittsburgh where he met his soon to be wife, Irene McClay, on his first evening at college. The two married and had two children, Jeanie Marden and Le Rodenberg. He graduated from the University of Pittsburgh with a Degree in Aeronautical Engineering.
LeRoy Rodenberg went on to work as an engineer and helped to launch the first astronauts into space. He received numerous awards and accolades for his work on the space program. He retired in Downey, California after a successful career as an engineer. Throughout retirement, he enjoyed golf, playing bridge, traveling, and spending time with family. He was a member of the Rio Hondo Golf Club and a Mason.
LeRoy Rodenberg is survived by his sister, daughter, son, four grandsons, three granddaughters, five great-grandsons, six great-granddaughters, three great-great-granddaughters, and three great-great-grandsons. He was a true American Hero and he will be missed dearly by his family. Condolences may be offered to The Rodenberg Family at PO Box 1205, Temecula, CA 92593.
