LA Conservancy starts fight to save south Rancho buildings
The Los Angeles Conservancy is appealing to the public to help save some of the old and abandoned buildings on the south Rancho Los Amigos hospital campus.
The county-owned property is poised for redevelopment, although it’s unclear when work will begin.
“Help reuse rather than demolish this long-vacant and deteriorated historic district in Downey, which tells the important and often overlooked history of Los Angeles County’s poor farm system and later hospital,” the L.A. Conservancy posted on Facebook.
A public meeting about the proposed redevelopment will be held at 6:30 p.m. tonight at the Barbara J. Riley Center.
