Kindle e-readers still available at the library

DOWNEY - Several new titles are available for the Kindle e-book readers offered at the Downey City Library.The portable readers from Amazon come with a variety of bestselling and classic books pre-loaded on each device. Library patrons can check out a Kindle DX model for three weeks with no renewals. "If you are considering the purchase of your own e-book reader, this is a great opportunity for you to try one of the most popular devices on the market," said Librarian Dan Rooker. "The Kindle DX is easy to read in any light and the font size is adjustable. We have added several new titles to the Kindles since the beginning of our pilot program last November. Approximately 60 titles are currently available on the Kindles, including "11/22/63" by Stephen King; "V is for Vengeance" by Sue Grafton; "The Affair" by Lee Child; "The Help" by Kathryn Stockett; "The Fifth Witness" by Michael Connelly; "The Hunger Games" by Suzanne Collins; "The Tiger's Wife" by Tea Obrecht; "The Twilight Saga" by Stephanie Meyer; "Dreams of Joy" by Lisa See; and more. Classic titles include "The Call of the Wild" by Jack London; "The Count of Monte Cristo" by Alexandre Dumas; "Frankenstein" by Mary Shelley; and "War of the Worlds" by H.G. Wells. Each Kindle also includes popular biography and non-fiction titles such as "Bossypants" by Tina Fey; "Cleopatra: a Life" by Stacy Schiff; "The Steve Jobs Way" by Jay Elliot and William Simon; and "Unbroken: a World War II Story on Survival, Resilience and Redemption" by Laura Hillenbrand.
