Kindergarten sign-ups underway

DOWNEY - The Downey Unified School District is now accepting registration for new kindergarten students.To be eligible for kindergarten, children must be at least 5 years old on or before Dec. 2, 2010. Proof of age must be presented at time of registration. Parents must show evidence their child has received a physical examination after March 1, 2010. The district's Report of Health Examination for School form should be taken to the child's private doctor or county health departments can also perform school-entry physicals. Parents must also bring their child's immunization record and provide proof of an oral health assessment, which must be completed by a licensed dentist or dental health professional.
