Kearns wins writing contest

DOWNEY -- Downey resident Frank Kearns won first place in Writers' Workshop West's recent memoir writing contest, president Ralph Cohen announced.Kearns won for his entry "3 A.M., Orono Calling." Angela DiDia, a new Writers' Workshop West member, won second place for "Unforgettable Memories." Third place awards went to several members. Writers' Workshop West meets the third Tuesday of each month at 7:30 p.m. in the Downey High School library. For more information, call (562) 862-3106.
