Joanne Mahr mourned

DOWNEY – Joanne Ellen Mahr passed away Oct. 25 after a battle with cancer. Mahr was the daughter of Benjamin and Dorothy Miller. She was born July 26, 1937 in Buena Park, Wisconsin, and died in Buena Park, Calif.

She graduated from Lynwood High School in 1954. Two years later, she met her future husband, Douglas Mahr, and they were married six months later. They moved to Downey in 1960 where they raised their two sons, Mike and Steve.

Late in 1977, after the boys had graduated from high school, the family moved to Fullerton.

She worked as a bookkeeper for many different companies. In 1978, Mars Printing opened where she continued her bookkeeping skills, helping her son, Steve. Joanne stayed involved in the family business until her death.

Joanne served on the Los Coyotes Women’s Golf Association for many years, including four years as chairman.

She is survived by her husband, Douglas; two sons, Michael (Karen) and Steve (Theresa); and eight grandchildren, Briannon, Jonathan, David, Austin, Kimberly, Danielle, Tanner and Jacob.

A celebration of life will be held at Los Coyotes Country Club on Nov. 8 at 12:30 p.m.
