Joan C. Whittaker- Downey resident for 65 years, was a Master Tax Advisor, Preparer, & Enrolled Agent @ H&R Block Downey for 30 years.

Services held for Joan C. Whttaker, 94 at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday July 20, 2022 @ Our Lady Of Perpetual Help Church (OLPH), officiated by Father Joseph. Joan C. Whittaker was born in Niles, Ohio and settled here in Downey 65 years ago. Up to her death she was doing what she loved: Taxes. She loved this job & the people she worked with & met.

Her clients were all top priority. She was on the board for Hoag Property Management for the complex community, making sure all were safe, property was maintained & that rules were followed.

She belonged to the OLPH Women’s Auxiliary & Parishioner. She enjoyed spending time with them on weekend retreats for the Lord. She was also on the board for the American Legion 270 of Downey, and was a very strong supporter for all veterans. She would do anything to lend a helping hand. She loved meeting on Friday mornings with ladies to play bridge, which was something she looked forward to with these women & also the game itself. She also loved rummy tiles, family gatherings, a lot of laughter, & just having fun. If you knew Joan, you knew General Hospital was her favorite show since it first began!

We lost a beautiful and wonderful mother, wife, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt, & friend. She will greatly be missed by all those that knew & loved her.

We Lost Our MATRIARCH.

She is survived by her children daughter Kimberly (David) White, son Kevin (Cathy) Whittaker, daughter Paula (Darrell) Alexander, daughter Nancy Cotnoir, 10 grandchildren, & 9 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband (Paul), grandson (Shaun), & sister (Dorothy).
