Jim Weston, Korean War veteran, passes away
DOWNEY -- On March 15, James “Jim” Weston passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family.
Jim was born Jan. 22, 1932, in Niagra, Wisconsin, to Harry and Helen (Lindstrom) Weston. When he was very young, the family relocated to West Bend, Wisconsin, where Jim spent his childhood, living on the shores of Silver Lake.
In 1951, Jim joined the US Army, and served during the Korean War, and later, in the Wisconsin National Guard. After his military service, Jim attended the Milwaukee Business College, and entered the civilian work force.
In 1962, he met Mary Coon, and on July 20, 1963, Jim and Mary got married.
In 1964, Jim and Mary moved to Downey, into the house where they raised their son, and where they lived for nearly 53 years.
Jim is survived by his wife Mary, son Tim, daughter-in-law Mari, and granddaughters Emily and Meghan.
The funeral service will be held on March 24 at Miller Mies mortuary in Downey at 11 a.m. Interment will be at Riverside National Cemetery on April 1 at 9:30 a.m.
