Jennifer DeKay is guest speaker at historical society
DOWNEY -- Downey Patriot publisher Jennifer DeKay will be guest speaker at the Oct. 26 meeting of the Downey Historical Society, starting at 7:30 p.m. at the Barbara Riley Center.
DeKay purchased the newspaper in 2006 and helped introduce several new features, including sports coverage and a twice-monthly column from Dr. Alan Frischer.
DeKay grew up in Downey, attending Good Shepherd Lutheran School, East Middle School and Downey High, where she graduated in 1990. She was a Miss Downey princess in 1990 and 1991, and today is president of the Downey Rose Float Association.
She earned an AA degree and paralegal certificate from Cerritos College and a bachelor’s degree in Communications from Cal State Fullerton.
