James Petersen, WWII vet, passes away

DOWNEY - James Arnold Petersen was born Nov. 3, 1925 in Wolbach, Neb., and passed away Aug. 19 in Downey at the age of 86.He had resided in Downey since 1961 and worked for the Langendorf Bakery Company for 30 years. Petersen served in the U.S. Navy during World War II as a submarine crew member. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Lucille; son, Jim; daughters, Pam and Janet; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. A private celebration of his life will be held in his honor on Sunday.
