Inaugural Ricky Galvez 5K takes place this Sunday

DOWNEY -- A 5K run to honor the memory of slain Downey police officer Ricky Galvez will take place this Sunday and the public is invited to participate. 

There is no registration or fee to participate, but due to time constraints and a police escort, participants are asked to run the course or step onto the sidewalk. 

Participants should arrive at the Downey police station by 6:30 a.m. The run begins at 7 a.m. and concludes back at the police station. 

After the run, there will be a pancake breakfast at Furman Park for all participants.
