Hyundai dealership to undergo expansion

DOWNEY — Hyundai will soon be undergoing a remodel and expansion.

Located at 7550 Firestone Blvd., the existing 13,909 square foot car dealership will be updated to reflect Hyundai’s mandate for uniform corporate branding and architectural design across its locations.

In addition to the aesthetic changes, a tower feature on the current structure will be demolished.

The project will also see the expansion of the showroom and service area, expanded delivery canopy, expanded landscaping, and reconfiguration of pedestrian and vehicle circulation. Electric vehicle storage and battery with EV service bay will also be installed.

According to a representative from Hyundai, the requirement to update the site to the company’s corporate specifications was present when the dealership moved into the city from Carson in 2017. The process was delayed during the transition period, and then further pushed back due to the pandemic.

The project was approved unanimously by the Planning Commission at their March 2 meeting.
