Human trafficking conference set for Saturday

DOWNEY — More than a half dozen speakers will tell their stories at a human trafficking conference this Saturday, Jan. 11, at Downey Adult School.

The conference is from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and is open to the public.

Speakers include Tangelia Myles and Shari Ho, human trafficking survivors; Rohida Khan of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security; Ted Swanson of the L.A. County District Attorney’s office human sex trafficking unit; Susan Patterson of the SOCAL Faith Coalition; Mary White of Gems Uncovered; and Patrick Erlandson of Men Standing Against Trafficking.

The event is sponsored by Courage Forward, a Downey-based non-profit that supports veterans.
