Here's this summer's concerts in the park lineup
DOWNEY – Downey’s Concerts in the Park series will return this summer to Furman Park, with an opening performance by a Rod Stewart tribute band.
The full concert lineup is included in Downey’s summer recreation guide, which residents began receiving in their mailboxes last week.
All performances begin at 7 p.m. at Furman Park. Bring your own chairs; no umbrellas or pop-up shade structures allowed. Dogs must be on a leash.
Here’s the complete schedule. Note there is no concert on July 4.
June 20
Atlantic Crossing
Atlantic Crossing is a touring Rod Stewart tribute band, playing all of the legendary rocker’s hits. Based out of Huntington Beach, the band has played the OC Fair and at various private and public events.
June 27
Knyght Ryder
The 80’s and 90s tribute band has performed at Downey’s park concerts before. The group’s playlist skews towards rock, metal and new wave.
July 11
Suave the Band
Another Downey regular, Suave the Band is a 10-piece ensemble that plays jazz, rock, swing, R&B and, of course, Latin music including cumbia, merengue, salsa and ChaCha.
July 18
Downey Symphony
Celebrating its 60th anniversary, the Downey Symphony Orchestra will perform Broadway and film tunes under the direction of Music Director Sharon Lavery.
July 26
Third Marine Aircraft Wingband
Closing out the concert season is the Third Marine Aircraft Wingband, which plays a variety of music, including wind ensemble literature, Broadway show tunes, film scores, traditional marches, and even contemporary concert music.
