Helen Hanges Reagan

Helen Hanges was born August 27, 1924 in Fort Smith, Arkansas to Nick and Lorene Hanges. Helen left her earthly life to be with the Lord on November 9, 2014. A Californian since 1945, after graduating from Wichita Falls High School in Texas, Helen received an Associate in Arts from Long Beach City College, the degree of Bachelor of Arts from University of Southern California, and degree of Master of Arts from University of Redlands. Helen taught school more than 19 years for the Los Angeles Unified School District. She was so well liked that many of her students wrote her thank you notes-even a song-because Helen changed their lives.

In 1946, she married Ed Reagan, they enjoyed 46 loving and devoted years together before his passing in 1992. Helen was a very active and dedicated member for the last 35 years at the Bellflower Church of Christ, especially the Ladies Bible Class. Helen knew George Pepperdine through her local church; she was welcomed into the Chancellor’s Circle at Pepperdine College, celebrating her generosity and love for changing students’ lives. Helen was a thoughtful, giving person touching many lives.

Helen loved to travel and had the opportunity to spend a year traveling in Europe with her husband; she also enjoyed sewing, reading, painting and her pet cat “Petey”. Helen is going to be missed greatly as she touched so many lives with her kind words.

There will be a Memorial Service to celebrate Helen’s life at the Bellflower Church of Christ, 17054 Clark Avenue, on June 6, 2015 at 11:00 A.M.
