Harold Camp was WWII veteran
DOWNEY – Harold Eugene Camp died at age 93 on Jan. 14 in Joshua Tree after a brief illness.
Harold was born to Gerald and Lola Camp in Long Beach on January 6, 1924. He graduated from Avenal High School in the Central Valley in 1941. Harold enlisted in the Army Air Corp in 1942 and served for four years during WWII.
He married Doris Frank in 1929 and enjoyed a long and happy marriage of 42 years. Harold opened Camp’s Appliance Store in South Gate. Harold lived for many years in Downey before moving to the high desert.
Harold was a generous man who donated liberally to Biola University and Moody Bible Institute.
Harold was predeceased by his wife, Doris in 1992. He is survived by his brother, Jerry Camp (Flora) in Oregon, his sister, Lois Harrison in Texas, his daughter, Mary Camp Jenison (Roger), his sons Paul, (Doris) and Joel. Harold is also survived by three grandchildren, along with two step grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.
A memorial service was held Jan. 20 at Wiefels Mortuary in Yucca Valley. Burial will take place at Riverside National Cemetery at a later date.
