'Hairspray' tickets go on sale Sunday

COSTA MESA - "Hairspray," the Broadway musical comedy that inspired a major motion picture, is coming to the Orange County Performing Arts Center April 6-11."Hairspray" won eight Tony Awards in 2003 - including Best Musical - and enjoyed a six-year run on Broadway. "Hairspray" tells the story of Baltimore's Tracy Turnblad, a big girl with big hair. Her only passion is to dance and win a spot on the local TV dance program, "The Corny Collins Show," and, overnight, is transformed from outsider to irrepressible teen celebrity. But can a plus-size trendsetter in dance and fashion vanquish the program's reigning princess, win the heart of heartthrob Link Larkin and integrate a television show without denting her 'do?
