Green Task Force releases plans for Earth Day community events
DOWNEY - Downey's Green Task Force has announced its First Annual Earth Day Events Series.
The lineup of events will span over the course of three days beginning with Earth Day, which is Friday, April 22, and continuing into Saturday, April 23, before concluding on Sunday, April 24.
This marks the first year that the Green Task Force partners up with multiple local organizations to feature and highlight the importance of sustainability. Partnerships include events with the Downey City Library, Stay Gallery, and Keep Downey Beautiful.
Downey attorney Ricardo Perez, who is chairman of the Green Task Force, expressed excitement about the Earth Day Events Series.
"We live in a world that we are borrowing from our children. It is imperative that we conserve our resources to ensure the very existence of future generations," Perez said in a statement. "We owe it to our children and to our children's children.
"Ours is a great city. Let us come together as a community and do our part. Together, we can! Juntos podemos!"
The Green Task Force, which was recently reduced from a 10-member to a 5-member body, holds their monthly meetings on the fourth Monday of the month. For a complete list of events, see below:
