Gang member caught tagging sheriff's training center
WHITTIER - A self-proclaimed gang member was arrested last week after a sheriff's lieutenant caught him writing graffiti inside a bathroom at the Sheriff's Academy in Whittier. The lieutenant went into the men's room and heard a "scratching sound" coming from the stall. When he looked to see what was causing the sounds, he saw the suspect writing letters on the stall door with a black marker. The lieutenant detained the suspect while deputies from the Norwalk Sheriff's Station were called to the academy. The lieutenant was wearing a green uniform jacket with the word "SHERIFF" on the front and back. The suspect was identified as 31-year-old Jordan Trevor Lucas, of Whittier. Lucas told deputies that he had taken a short-cut across the academy grounds and didn't notice there was someone else in the bathroom when he vandalized the stall door, authorities said. Lucas was booked at the Norwalk Sheriff's Station for one count of misdemeanor vandalism. He has a court appearance Nov. 29 at Whittier Superior Court.
