Friends of Downey Library's October silent auction items

DOWNEY — The Friends of the Downey City Library has eight items available for purchase via silent auction, with proceeds benefiting library programs.

Bids close at 12 pm on Oct. 26. Bids can be placed at the Friends Bookstore located inside the library or by calling (562) 299-6490.

1. Grimm’s Complete Fairy Tales, with illustrations by Arthur Rackham. Attractive leather-bound edition. With the words 'once upon a time', the Brothers Grimm transport readers to a timeless realm of witches, giants, princesses, kings, fairies, goblins and wizards. Minimum bid: $12.

2. Mary Engelbreit’s 1) Mother Goose and 2) The Snow Queen by Hans Christian Anderson. These delightful and well-loved children’s stories are accompanied by Engelbreit’s illustrations. Minimum bid: $10

3. Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them: Newt Scamander: A Movie Scrapbook Candlewick Press. This magical scrapbook takes readers on an interactive adventure, complete with removable artifacts, such as wizarding newspapers, posters, and other fascinating finds. Minimum bid: $10
