Free prom dresses for high school girls

DOWNEY - Downey girls who would like to attend prom but cannot afford a new dress are invited to attend a "Glamour Gown" event May 14 at the Casa de Parley Johnson house at 7749 Florence Ave.The event is coordinated by the Assistance League of Downey and the Assisteens. Girls can receive free prom attire, including a dress, shoes, jewelry and handbag. The items can be picked up May 14 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Appointments are necessary by calling Stacy Brabant at (310) 991-3757. The Assistance League is also accepting donations of new or used dresses and accessories to distribute at the event.
