Free concert series at Cerritos College
NORWALK – Cerritos College’s Music Department is planning a series of free concerts next month showcasing the college’s jazz band, orchestra, choir, and other groups. Performances are free and open to the public. One-day parking passes are $2 in lots C-1, C-2 and C-10.

Friday, March 6
Piano Recital: Piano Concert Lecture Series
11 a.m. Room BC-51 (Free)
The concert will feature one of America’s outstanding woman composers Amy Beach’s trio in A minor, Op. 150
Performers: Diana Parmeter - violin
Cliff Goodrich - cello
Paul Da Silva - piano
A lecture on piano will be presented by Dr. Christine Lopez, director of Keyboard Studies.
Sunday, March 8
Piano Ensemble Concert
4 p.m. Room BC-51 (Free)
Cerritos College piano students will perform a variety of repertoire written for one piano/four hands and two pianos/four hands
Wednesday, March 11
Jazz Exchange Concert
7 p.m. Student Center (Free)
The concert will feature the Cerritos College Jazz Band in an evening of high energy jazz tunes. The group will be directed by Dr. David Betancourt, music professor, and feature a special performance by the Bellflower High School Jazz Band.
Friday, March 13
Band & Orchestra Exchange Concert
7 p.m. Student Center (Free)
The Cerritos College Concert Band and Orchestra will present an evening of modern and classic medleys and overtures. The band is conducted by Dr. David Betancourt and the orchestra will be conducted by Alan Hallback, music instructor.
Saturday, March 14
Jazz Festival
8 a.m. - 4 p.m.

The all-day festival features 15 local middle and high school jazz ensembles. The Cerritos College Jazz Band will perform in the noontime concert.
Thursday, March 26
Pop/Rock Exchange Concert
7 p.m. Student Center (Free)
Featuring the Cerritos College Pop/Rock Band, the event will present an evening of high energy pop/rock dance tunes with a surprise guest band.
Friday, April 24
Piano Recital: Piano Concert Lecture Series
11 a.m. Room BC-51 (Free)
The recital features Edward MacDowell’s Sonata Eroica that vividly portrays the legend of King Arthur and the dramatic and highly romantic events of his era.
Performer: Dr. Charles Fierro, Professor Emeritus, California State University, Northridge
A lecture on piano will be presented by Dr. Christine Lopez, Director of Keyboard Studies.

Choir, Band & Orchestra Spring Concert
7 p.m. Burnight Center Theatre (Price: $10-online only $12 at door)
The event will feature the Cerritos College Choir, Concert Band, and Orchestra in an evening of modern and classic favorites. The bands and orchestra will be conducted by Dr. David Betancourt and Alan Hallback and the Choir is conducted by Dr. Anna DeMichele.
