Free backpacks available Saturday at Golden Park

DOWNEY – Gangs Out of Downey (GOOD) will be hosting its 7th Annual Backpack Giveaway this Saturday, Aug. 6, from 2–4 pm at Golden Park, located at 8840 Golden St. in Downey.

Backpacks and school supplies will be available for free (while supplies last) for elementary to high school students. A parent/guardian must be present for the student to receive a backpack.

“We are thrilled to be able to host this event for the 7th consecutive year,” said GOOD President Tony Cristani. “Supporting students in our community is a priority for GOOD and this event is just one of the ways that we do it.

“We have hundreds of backpacks filled with school supplies to help kids and their families get ready for the upcoming school year and I’m looking forward to seeing everyone on August 6.”
