DOWNEY — The coroner's office Monday publicly identified one of four people killed in a weekend freeway crash in Downey.
Daniel Nichols was 26 years old and died from blunt traumatic injuries, the coroner's office said.
California Highway Patrol officers responded at around 2:30 a.m. Saturday to the southbound Santa Ana (5) Freeway, north of the San Gabriel River (605) Freeway, where they found the victims of the solo-vehicle crash, the CHP reported.
The victims were pronounced dead at the scene.
The crash closed several lanes of the southbound freeway while the CHP conducted its investigation. No further details were immediately available.
