Foster parents honored by agency

DOWNEY - Two parents from Downey have been honored by a foster family agency for their parenting skills.Martha Villalobos and Hector Gutierrez were honored with Guardian Angel Awards for "demonstrating the passion and care that are required to nurture the youngsters through challenging times." Villalobos and Gutierrez have opened their home to at-risk children who have been removed by the courts from their birth families. The awards were distributed by Optimist Foster Family and Adoption Services, one of the region's largest education and treatment centers for at-risk children and their families.
