Financial literacy course at church

DOWNEY – Downey First Christian Church is hosting a nine-week financial course beginning Sunday, April 12. The DVD-driven course, titled Financial Peace University, is taught by best-selling author and radio personality Dave Ramsey.

Participants will learn “common sense principles” such as saving money, paying off debt and improving their financial futures.

After each session, the church leads a group discussion where students discuss emergency funds, budgeting, insurance, housing, income, and more.

The average student claims an $8,000 financial turnaround in just the first three months of applying the course’s principles, the church says.
