Embert Stringer worked in aerospace
DOWNEY - Longtime Downey resident Embert L. Stringer passed away on May 14 at the age of 95.He was born on July 30, 1914 in Cincinnati to Ralph and Loraine Stringer, and was the eldest of nine brothers. On Feb. 14, 1940 he married Patricia Stringer; they were married for 69 years. They moved from Ohio to Downey in 1944 and continued to reside here. Stringer worked in the aerospace industry for Northrop, JPL and retired from TRW where he worked on the Apollo Lunar Landing Module. He is survived by three children, Susan Machowsky of Downey, Embert (Sonny) Stringer, Jr. (Debra) of Whittier and Paul Stringer (Patrice) of Draper, Utah; 13 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, several brothers, wife Pat, and one great-grandchild, Lincoln. Funeral services will be held Monday at Rose Hills Memorial Chapel in Whittier at 1 p.m. with internment to follow. In lieu of flowers, the family has asked for donations in Stringer's name to the Hospice Foundation.
