Elderly resident killed in hit-and-run

DOWNEY -- A 74-year-old Downey resident was killed Wednesday night in a hit-and-run crash near Brookshire Avenue and Gallatin Road. 

NBC-4 reports that the victim was not in a crosswalk when the collision occurred at about 8:11 p.m. 

The resident was reportedly struck by a white Honda driven by 64-year-old Quddus Kahn. Police say Kahn fled the scene but returned an hour later. 

Kahn was arrested and charged with felony hit-and-run. 

The identity of the victim has not been publicly released.
