Elderly man sentenced in wife's death

LOS ANGELES - A 75-year-old Los Angeles man convicted in August of the first-degree murder of his wife was sentenced to 26 years to life in prison last week, the district attorney's office announced.Ronald Leroy Berg killed his 69-year-old wife, Violeta, in 2008 at the couple's Westlake District apartment. Berg killed his wife using knives and an iron, according to the charging document. The two had been married for 19 years.
