Edna “Frances” Egan

Edna “Frances” Egan died Friday, January 3rd, 2025, in Downey, California, at the age of 92. She leaves behind her sisters, Ellen and Rosie, daughter, Janet, her sons, David and Patrick, five grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.

Born and raised in Indiana, the daughter of William and Eunice Reutter, she moved to Downey in 1960. She held a master’s degree in early childhood development and was a special education teacher in the ABC School District for over twenty years.

Frances loved singing and was a part of the Downey Chapter of the Sweet Adelines, an all-female barber’s shop group. She would sing spontaneously, bringing joy to her family and all that knew her. She was a woman of many talents that wrote poetry and painted portraits and landscapes.

Frances was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother who loved her family deeply. She will be missed.
