Downey's first Mariachi Music Festival set for April 27

DOWNEY – Grammy Award-nominated singer Lupita Infante is presenting the inaugural Downey Unified Mariachi Music Festival on April 27 on the campus of Griffiths Middle School.

Student mariachi groups from sixth grade through college will perform for 15 minutes and receive 10 minutes of feedback from professional judges.

The free event is from 11 am to 4 pm and is open to the public. There will also be food trucks.
