Downey Youth Football installs officers as it preps for fall season

DOWNEY — Downey Youth Football (Razorbacks) has installed its new slate of officers for the 61st anniversary season. 

Executive officers include Luis Vasquez, treasurer; Cathy Godinez, 1st vice president; Misty Risso-Ahmed, secretary; Carla Kelly, athletic director; and Amber Ellico, cheer coordinator. 

The newly installed and reaffirmed officers will join Louis Morales, who will be serving as president of the Razorbacks for an unprecedented 23rd consecutive year. 

The Razorbacks’ legal representative is Eduardo Olivo. 

Registration for the 2021 season is now underway and is open to boys and girls ages 5-14. Due to safety precautions, registration is being accepted via text (310-350-0220) or email (Lemorales1964@yahoo.com) until it is safe to conduct in-person registration.

Grade level in September 2021

Parent(s) names and phone and email

No deposit required is required. Registration for tackle football and cheerleading is $250; the cost is $180 for flag football. 

The Razorbacks are part of the SCEYFL-AAU conference, which is composed of 30 member associations located throughout Southern California. AAU is a national organization offering expanded play and cheerleading events at the regional and national level. 

Practices start July 26 and the first game is Sept. 11. All home games are played at Downey and Warren high schools. In addition, the Razorbacks and SCEYFL will be hosting championships on Dec. 3 and 10 at Sofi Stadium. Stadium tour tickets will be available for $15 starting in May.
