Downey Unified's State of the Schools breakfast returns Oct. 7

DOWNEY — After a two-year hiatus, the Downey Unified Board of Education and Superintendent Dr. John Garcia are will hold the eighth annual State of the Schools breakfast on Friday, Oct. 7.

This event, presented by the Downey Foundation for Educational Opportunities with proceeds benefiting True Lasting Connections (TLC), will be held at the Los Angeles County Office of Education’s West Conference Center, 12830 Columbia Way, Downey, at 7 a.m. and will end at approximately 9 a.m.

Breakfast will be served by Warren High School’s Culinary Arts students while attendees listen to keynote speakers share the district’s achievements and strategic direction.

It will also enlighten guests about the major programs being implemented throughout the district, while serving as an opportunity to interact with students and meet the school district’s Board of Education members and staff.

All proceeds will go to Downey Unified’s TLC Family Resource Center, which partners with more than 50 agencies dedicated to providing support to children and families. These services include providing the help needed by parents/guardians to become better participants in our schools and the community.  TLC also ensures that each referred student receives the physical and emotional support needed.

Downey Unified invites the community to attend this year’s informative event. Tickets will be available via presale only and are $35 per person.  Tables of eight and sponsorships are also available for organizations or individuals.

This event is tax deductible and more information on the various levels of sponsorships can be found on the district’s website, web.DUSD.net.
