Downey Unified's social studies curriculum open for public review
DOWNEY – Downey Unified invites the public to examine a new Social Studies Curriculum being considered for adoption by the Board of Education for use in middle school.
The materials selected are in alignment with State Content Standards as required by California Code of Regulation (CCR), Title 5, Section 9531(a).
Copies of the materials will be on display for five consecutive weeks, Monday through Friday, from May 15 until June 15, 2023, in the Secondary Education Department of the Downey Unified District Office. Appointments are requested to be made for any person wishing to review these materials. Please contact the office of Secondary Education at (562) 469-6781 to make an appointment.
The policy of the Board of Education provides that anyone wishing to offer suggestions or criticism about this curriculum proposed for adoption must submit comments in writing to the Superintendent seven days prior to the Board meeting at which this curriculum will be adopted. Adoption will be recommended at the Board of Education meeting scheduled for June 27, 2023.
