Downey teen charged with Long Beach armed robbery
DOWNEY – A 19-year-old Downey man has pleaded not guilty to armed robbery charges.
Alexander Gomez was charged with armed robbery Monday, along with a gun enhancement.
According to the Long Beach Police Department, Gomez and another man — 21-year-old Adrian Martinez of Compton — robbed a Long Beach business at about 2:30 a.m. on Feb. 9.
Gomez and Martinez made off with an undisclosed amount of cash but were pursued by a Cal State Long Beach police officer, prosecutors said.
The suspects crashed the vehicle on the university campus and escaped on foot.
Police arrested Martinez after he reported his vehicle as stolen, authorities said. Gomez was arrested in Downey on Feb. 21.
A third suspect, a 16-year-old boy from Compton, also was arrested.
Gomez and Martinez are each currently being held on $100,000 bail.
