Downey students selling shopping tickets for a good cause
DOWNEY – The Downey High School KIWIN'S are participating in the Citadel Outlet's 2015 Shopping Extravaganza to raise funds for their service projects.
The KIWIN'S are a group of student leaders sponsored by the Kiwanis Club of Downey. They fund their own projects, including game nights at senior citizen centers, veteran appreciation projects, feeding the homeless at Skid Row, sending aid to children in the Philippines, pediatric trauma prevention programs for children, packing 50,000 meals for Haiti, Children's Hospital doll making project, recycling art projects with special needs kids, and more.
Students are asking for the Downey community's support to continue their service to the community.
As a participating charity, students will receive $25 from every $35 shopping ticket it sells. Ticket-holders receive exclusive discounts to Citadel Outlets on Oct. 3, plus lunch by Ruby's Diner, access to a wine-tasting by Stella Rosa, and a raffle ticket for a chance at $90,000 in gift card drawings.
Tickets can be purchased online at citadeloutlets.com, and select Downey High School KIWIN'S as the designated charity.
