Downey school board cancels election

DOWNEY - The Downey Unified School District cancelled its election scheduled for Nov. 8 after no one filed paperwork to challenge incumbent school board members.More than two dozen school districts throughout L.A. County cancelled elections due to a lack of candidates, including the school districts in Whittier, Paramount, Montebello and El Monte. The cities of Santa Fe Springs, Artesia and Rolling Hills Estates also called of city council elections.
