Downey resident awarded $10K scholarship
DOWNEY — Downey resident Ashley Yung has been selected to receive a $10,000 college scholarship from the Gen.G Foundation.
The scholarship is awarded annually to 11 college students around the country and focuses on supporting women, people of color, and low income students enrolled in a U.S. university or college who are interested in gaming, esports, entrepreneurship, journalism or content creation.
Yung is currently studying at UC Santa Barbara. In addition to the $10,000, she also receives access to career and mentorship programming.

Zade Bosco Lobo (Campbell, Calif.) - University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign
In 2020, Gen.G announced a $1 million commitment to developing the next generation of leaders in the gaming industry, pledging to commit $100,000 annually for 10 years.
