Downey rental prices rise slightly

DOWNEY — Downey rents have increased 0.1% over the past month, and are up marginally by 0.6% in comparison to the same time last year,  according to a study of rental prices released Tuesday by ApartmentList.com.

Currently, median rents in Downey stand at $1,573 for a one-bedroom apartment and $2,022 for a two-bedroom. 

Downey's year-over-year rent growth lags the state average of 1.1%, as well as the national average of 1.4%.

Throughout the past year, rent increases have been occurring not just in the city of Downey, but across the entire metro. Of the largest 10 cities that Apartment List has data for in the Los Angeles metro, nine of them have seen prices rise.
