Downey rental prices climbed 9.5% from one year ago
DOWNEY — Downey rents have increased 1.3% over the past month, and have increased sharply by 9.5% in comparison to the same time last year, according to an analysis by Apartment List.
Currently, median rents in Downey stand at $1,557 for a one-bedroom apartment and $2,031 for a two-bedroom.
This is the seventh straight month that the city has seen rent increases after a decline in March. Downey's year-over-year rent growth lags the state average of 12.8%, as well as the national average of 15.8%.
Throughout the past year, rent increases have been occurring not just in the city of Downey, but across the entire metro. Of the largest 10 cities that Apartment List has data for in the Los Angeles metro, all of them have seen prices rise.
Irvine has the most expensive rents in the Los Angeles metro, with a two-bedroom median of $3,579; the city has also seen rent growth of 31.3% over the past year, the fastest in the metro.
Long Beach has the least expensive rents in the Los Angeles metro, with a two-bedroom median of $1,932; rents increased 0.7% over the past month and 9.0% over the past year.
