Downey police to host National Night Out on Aug. 4

DOWNEY — The Downey Police Department will host the city’s 13th annual National Night Out celebration on Tuesday, Aug. 4, from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Downey Civic Center.
The event, billed as “America’s Night Out Against Crime,” is held nationally each year on the first Tuesday in August and is intended to promote crime prevention awareness, support local safety programs, strengthen neighborhood spirit and build partnerships between police and the community.
Downey’s event will include safety education, community resources, live entertainment, free food and beverages, children’s activities, information booths and other family-friendly activities.
The celebration will take place at the Downey Civic Center, 11111 Brookshire Ave.
