Downey Police deploying extra patrols this weekend
DOWNEY -- In anticipation of Halloween parties across town, the Downey Police Department will deploy saturation patrols this weekend in search of inebriated drivers.
The patrols are from 7 p.m. to 3 a.m. on Friday and Saturday. Officers will patrol areas with high frequencies of DUI collisions and arrests, and search for signs of alcohol or drug impairment.
The police department urged Halloween revelers to designate a sober driver or use a rideshare app.
"This Halloween and every day, drivers need to remember that it is never okay to drive buzzed by alcohol, marijuana, medication or illicit drugs," the department said in a statement.
In California, it is illegal to drive with a BAC of .08 or higher (.05 for drivers under age 21).
