Downey man gets jail for secretly filming police officers inside bathroom

DOWNEY — A Downey man pleaded no contest to charges that he secretly videotaped police officers inside the bathroom of the Long Beach Police Department and was immediately sentenced to six years in jail last week.

Sergio Nieto, 29, worked as a records clerk for the Long Beach Police Department. He was arrested last year on allegations he secretly filmed 69 co-workers using the restroom.

Prosecutors said Nieto made hundreds of videos over a two-year span.

In addition to jail time, Nieto was ordered to complete a year of sex compulsion counseling.
