Downey Library's May auction items

The Friends of the Downey City Library holds monthly silent auctions to raise money for library programs. The May auction items include:

“Simply Delicioso” (combining ingredients you know with fresh, exciting flavors that will make your taste buds dance, these recipes will turn any meal into a fiesta);
 
“The Human Brain Book” (the ultimate guide to the nerve center of our bodies with computer generated 3-D images);

“The Cutthroat” (detective Isaac Bell follows a trail of bodies to a cold-blooded villain in this tenth novel in Cussler/Scott’s bestselling historical series);

“The Dodgers Encyclopedia-2nd Edition” (every important event in the Dodgers’ history is here starting with early baseball history, the New York years and up to the 2003 season);

“Picturing Los Angeles” (comprehensive pictorial history of LA with more than 550 photos);

“The American Frontier – Pioneers, Settlers & Cowboys 1800-1899” (a close look at the roles played by many in the story of the frontier);

“John Fitzgerald Kennedy – A Life in Pictures” (photographs, personal notes and campaign memorabilia, many of which previously unpublished);

“The Soccer Book” (the ultimate visual guide to the world’s greatest sport – the clubs, fans, rituals, stats and more);

“The Scented Garden” (lavishly illustrated and revealing the astonishing diversity of scents found in plants that can be grown both indoor and out);

“Cars – 1886-1930” (the basic trends and spectacular events of the entire period);

“National Geographic – On Assignment USA” (this book crisscrosses America as only National Geographic can – includes the story of the writers and photographers as they do their job);

“John Wayne Collection” (includes The John Wayne Album; The Life and Times of John Wayne; Legends of Hollywood-John Wayne, 5-DVD’s; John Ford’s John Wayne films, 7-DVD’s);

Items have opening bids from $5-8 and are on display in the library lobby. Because the library is closed the last Saturday of the month, bids can be made through noon, Saturday, May 20th, on cards in the Friend’s Bookstore located in the young adult section of the library.
